Watercolor Artist
Ayako Tsuge
Profile
I grew up in an artistic family. My father, Eiji Takahashi, is a display designer and has achieved many satisfactory results in the museums and exhibitions. My elder sister is a pianist. My uncle is a commercial photographer.
And my grandfather Akira, who was known as an artist Suiko, was a Japanese style painter, specializing in Bijinga, landscape paintings and Bird-and-flower paintings.
I have learned painting since I was young and majored in Japanese Painting in Nagoya University of Arts. After graduation, I became a watercolor painter and worked on pictures of advertisements of giant corporations and cover pictures of newsletters and journals.
My works are inspired steadily by the vitality of the seasonal flowers and created out of my own view of the world. And they keep grabbing the heart of the people. Especially they have reputation for outstanding clarity resulting from my eye for beauty.
My real name Ayako was given to me by my father Eiji.
I was awarded Illustrator of the year by the Japan Illustration Association in 2007.
I am a member of the Transparent Watercolor Society of Japan.
